Our Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is produced from fresh, hand-picked, mature coconuts harvested from family owned and cooperative farms in West Africa that are free from harmful pesticides and herbicides. The coconut tree is known as the “tree of life” because it can meet many basic human needs such as food, shelter and fuel. Every component of the tree has a useful purpose. Lafiya Foods VCO is cold pressed without any chemicals and additives to ensure the retention of its freshness and unadulterated high quality. Our coconut oil is non-bleached, non-refined and non-deodorized and has a pleasant aroma and taste that is not overpowering. Coconut oil is much healthier than it appears due to the fact that it contains saturated fats from Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs). MCTs do not get absorbed as fat in the body. Instead, MCTs increase metabolism, increase energy levels, balance blood sugar and raising good cholesterol levels.
